Research Overview

In our bionanotechnology lab, we perform fundamental as well as applied research at the interface of biology, nanotechnology, and material chemistry. Research themes are mainly classified into three interconnected fields. In supramolecular chemistry, we investigate properties of the individual molecule and its interaction with other molecules in terms of weak non-covalent interactions. We synthesize fluorescent nanoparticles and functionalize the surface with biomolecules (e.g. protein, DNA, drugs etc.) to decipher biological events associated with cancer, using diverse spectroscopic techniques. We are also involved in synthesizing fluorescent or fluorogenic probes for fundamental photophysical study, bioconjugation, and small molecular sensing.
